what to eat in NYC, summer 2011
i love going out to eat, its probably one of my favorite things to do. I am constantly on yelp.com or menupages.com on either my phone or my macbook. hopefully if i get hired soon ( crosses fingers ) i will be able to try out this list. I picked out what looked best on blogs and sites according to reviews and photos.
1. Calexico
— locations, 24th street & bway (manhattan) ,greenpoint & redhook (brooklyn).
I love mexican food and the menu looks awesome!
— location, 4 cliton street
I’m not a huge fan of breakfast but brunch is a must.
smoked salmon sandwich with scallion cream cheese
3. Maharlika
— location, E 12th street & 1st ave
Filipino food, why not? i have never tried it but i have heard such amazing things about it. The spices, condiments and most importantly the culture of the food makes me what to try it.
adobo stuffed chicken wings with scrambled eggs and garlic fried rice
mango-stuffed french toasted with caramelized baby coconut
4. Hill Country
— location, 30 West 26th street
Once i was watching a show on the foodnetwork and it was all about BBQ and how its done right, from the big slices of bread to the paper bags. I didnt think there was any in nyc until i researched and found Hill Country.
5. Lombardi’s
— location, 32 spring street
according to the website its the first pizzeria ever. and according to the reviews its he best pizza ever. and i love white pizza therefore i must go.
— location, 99 Prince street
all american food, i would love to try the desserts.
7. Delicatessen
— location, 54 prince street
american food, i always pass by and i would love to try their french toast.
8. Calle Ocho
— location, 446 Columbus ave
latin american cuisine can possibly be one of the best types of food in the world. the unlimited sangria alone is a reason to go.
9. Barrio Chino
— location, 253 Broome Street
the name itself is interesting, its mexican food with some asian fusion.
10. Room 18
— location, 18 Spring street
an asian fusion tapas bar, A MUST!
11. Macao
— location, 311 Church Street
Asian fusion right in NYC, I would love to try the pork and lamb meatballs.
12. Nergil Village
— location, 70 E 3rd Street
Jamaican Cuisine is something that I must try, especially for their seafood soup.
